The orthopaedic centre is fully equipped with an extensive range of fracture repair implants and instrumentation including standard internal fixation (bone plates and screws, pins, wires etc) for treating broken bones; external fixators – both linear and Illizarov / ring fixators – for the management of growth problems and limb deformities and advanced locking plate technologies, for use in the treatment of severe and complex fractures. With an international reputation for experience and expertise in the field of orthopaedics, traumatology and fracture repair, we are particularly well placed to deal with even the most challenging and seriously injured trauma cases. Being able to call upon a team of several experienced fracture surgeons and with the support of an experienced team of theatre and kennel nurses along side our physiotherapisty and rehab service, the equipment, facilities and personnel at the Animal Orthopaedic Centre offers veterinary patients the very best chance of recovery from even the most serious accident or trauma.
As well as fracture surgery and trauma management, the Animal Orthopaedic Centre at Croft Veterinary Hospital is one of the handful of the veterinary practices in the UK able to offer a full range of veterinary orthopaedic operations and other treatments and is the only centre in the region to be approved (both by RCVS and the European College of Veterinary Surgeons) for the training of qualified vets up to Specialist status – independent verification of outstanding clinical standards.
